Most clients work with us for investment advisory services, which focuses on strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio management, cash management, tax considerations etc.
Many, but not all, clients work with us for financial planning services. This includes retirement planning, charitable planning, estate planning, and tax planning. We either coordinate the more complex issues with your trusted professionals or we utilize one of our preferred partners.
We do not prepare taxes nor prepare legal documents. We prefer to have an annual meeting and communicate at least semi-annually regarding your evolving financial priorities.
We tailor each portfolio to that of our client. So a more conservative retiree who needs income may have a safer selection of stocks and bonds than a younger client who may have a higher percentage of stocks, less bonds, and has a tilt towards capital accumulation rather than current income. It really all depends on the needs and goals of each client, which we discover before you can become a client. Overall, we follow a value investing strategy, which Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway popularized decades ago.
A la carte pricing:
Pricing depends on the level of service. However, the maximum fee for financial planning and investment advisory combined is 1% of assets under management. This is an all-in-fee. Most brokers/ banks have fees upon hidden fees. However, we are a fiduciary so are legally bound to disclose all fees since we are a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA).
Our clients work with the President, Bennett Barrow CFP® as well as with our Director of Client Relations, Kim Michel. This relationship of receiving personalized service is the cornerstone of our business. Since Barrow Asset Management, Inc. is a Registered Investment Advisor, we do have the back office support of our Charles Schwab Institutional team to help with the accounts of our clients.
Please review our ADV information here or you can visit the SEC’s website for investment advisors by clicking here. We are also happy to mail you a copy
A CFP® is a Certified Financial Planner™. The program is administered by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. Those with the CFP® designation have demonstrated competency in all areas of finance related to financial planning. A Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) is a professional advisory firm that offers personalized financial advice to clients. RIAs are held to a fiduciary standard that requires our firm and advisors to act in the best interest of the clients they serve. RIA’s are registered with the SEC or with the state they are located in. Barrow Asset Management, Inc. is registered in the state of Florida and regulated by the Florida Office of Financial Regulation.
Fee only means that we do not earn commissions, sell products for commissions, earn referral fees, or are compensated in any way other than the fee charged to the client. We feel that advisor cross-selling insurance products along with providing investment advice is an inherent conflict of interest within the financial industry.
No, our firm, its advisors, or employees do not earn any compensation other than what is disclosed to you in our ADV Part 2A and our Advisory Agreement. All fees assessed are either stated in the Advisory Agreement, or in an addendum to the advisory agreement when additional services are requested by the client. Advisory Agreements and addendums are signed in advance of fees being charged.
We frequently work with our clients’ CPA’s, estate planners, insurance providers etc. so that we understand your true risk profile. If you do not have one then we can recommend one. These are preferred partners that we are not compensated by nor do we accept referral fees.
We have clients in different phases of their financial life cycle. Some clients are just accumulating wealth and would like help either getting started investing or just need help prioritizing ( when to pay down mortgage? what retirement account to set up? how much to add to college education plan?) etc. Our older clients, in their distribution phase, may need more advice on charitable giving with their IRA’s, gift planning to their heirs, or updating estate plans.
We work with Charles Schwab so all trades, tax statements etc. will be provided by them. We also use Schwab for our reporting and in-house investment technology. All clients will also have access to Schwab research, online accounts etc.
